B Block: Beginning Drawing Homework Due 9/9/09





In


your sketchbook using your 4B pencil and your kneaded eraser Draw from observation an appple, pepper or other piece of fruit or vegetable. Your goals are to include: Highlight, Light, midtone, Form and Cast shadows. You will need a strong light source. Your object must be lit from one direction--Not backlit. The drawing needs to fill the sketchbook page. Do NOT shade with your finger.

Check Plus: drawing goes beyond the assignment, shows excellent observation and effort. Student follows the assignment carefully. (10)

Check: Drawing shows good observation, and with more effort it would be outstanding (5)

Check minus: Drawing is flat, and lacks dimension, student did not follow the assigment (2)

G block Intermediate Drawing 200/300 Homework Due 9/8/09




Sophomores: Free Drawing: Continuous line drawings in pen
possible subject matter:
Flowers , shoes, self portrait, or a view inside your car
Use the entire page.

Juniors/Seniors: Another exercise from your sketchbook packet or one of the continuous line drawings above.






D Block 300/400 drawing: Due 9/8/09




Objects brought in: 300 level: Tools, leaves, bring in a bag of stuff and possible reference photos etc for natural objects/human made objects drawings.


400 level: reference pictures of what subject matter would make a good drawing for chiaroscuro! ( reference pics or object to light). Your source material is due at the beginning of class for our brainstorming/ sketching session:


if you don’t have strong source material you will receive zero credit! for the day!

resubmit policy 2009-2010

You can resubmit any drawing assignment for a better grade if:

1. Your drawing was turned in by the original due date and received credit or a grade
2. The new work submitted is corrected and shows technical improvement of the project.

Sketchbook resubmits will be on a case by case basis.

Resubmits will not be accepted for unexcused late work.

Beginning Drawing B block

In your sketchbook: Free hand copy of Egon Schiele drawing or shoshun drawing in your sketchbook: NO TRACING!!! I want to see your correction marks. Due August 31st. In pencil

Evaluated on following directions, correct size, correct medium.

Grades 2010-2011

Quarter 1:

Drawing/Painting projects:35%
Projects are evaluated in three areas of individual growth: Technique, Concept, and Presentation
(fullfilling the requirments of the project, risk taking, elements and principles of art in project, craftspersonship,focus and homework spent on project)

written essays/quizzes/sketchbooks35%:
(completing assignments, following directions with check system risk taking)

Sketchbook:
10 points sketch was done properly and shows student going beyond fulfilling the assignment
5 points student completed the assignment ( 5 points)
2.5 sketch is done but rushed and with more work it would be very good.
0: Student did not turn in the assignment

Sketchbook assignments can be resubmitted on a case by case basis. you have to talk to me as soon as possible to resubmit.

Class membership/Critique participation: 30%
class preparedness, individual focus ( i.e. not talking and creating distractions) ,studio clean up:
